The countdown begins before we finally witness the most epic dance movie of the year, “Indak,” starring multi-awarded actress Nadine Lustre and total performer, Sam Concepcion.
“Indak” is about a simple island girl named Jen (Nadine), who loves dancing, but never showed her true talent to anyone. Not until a video of her dancing went viral online and Vin
(Sam), leader of Indak Pinas invites her to come to Manila and join them.
Directed by concert director, Paul Basinillo, this will be the next Filipino dance film after more than two decades of waiting.
Aside from facing their fears, the struggles and dilemmas of the “Indak Pinas” crew is surely relatable to a lot of dance groups in the country.
“Maraming talagang dancers na aspiring kaso kulang sila sa fund, so even if they wanted to compete abroad, the resources are quite few,” Direk Paul said in an interview with CNN Philippines.
According to him, part of the story that “Indak” wants to tell is to encourage people to join the competition, given that Filipinos are very talented.
When asked about the takeaways they had after filming “Indak,” lead stars Nadine and Sam talked about importance of perseverance and what sets their movie apart from international films of the same genre.
“It teaches you not to give up easily. If you have a dream, you really have to pull through and do whatever it takes to reach it,” the Multimedia Princess stated.
In the movie, Jen is not confident of her own talent. She is afraid to take a risk and leave her island life, until she has learned to face her fears and bring out the best in her.
“At the very heart of the story, it’s still very Pinoy… It’s about love, passion, relationship, family. At the end of the day, life is about what you care about,” Sam added.
Shot in the beautiful island of Bantayan in Cebu and the scenic South Korea, “Indak” will also wow the viewers with its amazing choreography and a great soundtrack. Watch the trailer below!
