Cinemalaya held a grand awards night at the Cultural Center of the Philippines last August 11, 2019, to honor the great actors, directors, screenwriters, among others, who participated in the acclaimed independent film festival. Viva artist Ella Cruz bagged the award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in the movie Edward. Congratulations, Ella!
The Cinemalaya 2019 Philippine Independent Film Festival closed its curtains on Sunday, August 11, with an annual awards night held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City.
Viva artist Ella Cruz was given the award for Best Supporting Actress (Full-Length) for her work in Thop Nazareno’s Edward, besting other actresses. This is her first acting award since winning Best Child Actress at the 56th FAMAS Awards in 2008 for Resiklo. Nazareno accepted the award on Ella’s behalf, for she was not available to attend the event.
